What is Software Quality?
According to the IEEE, software quality can be defined as the following:
- The degree to which a system, component, or process meets specified requirements.
- The degree to which a system, component, or process meets the customer or user needs or expectations.
If you want to be successful, you need to develop you software for the users, not for yourself. All to often, people decide to create a website or blog and develop without taking the time to consider who will be using the resource once it is complete.
Both points mentioned above are entirely about the users. The requirements are extremely important to follow, and these requirements come from the users of the system. If you can satisfy some user need with the resource you develop, then you will have people who will use the resource.
The other day I wrote about personas. Personas are a great way to make sure you constantly keep your users in mind while you develop your website or any other type of software. They are definitely worth checking out!
