WebDev Connection - 26 June 2007

by Deceth

Sorry for not posting yesterday, looks like the server was a bit slow and I was unable to access my account! Don’t worry, I’ll throw in an extra one this week to make it up to you all! Now, time for the WebDev Connection!

First, definitely check out the Web Apps for Students post at Read/WriteWeb! Don’t let the title fool you! While the resources mentioned can be very useful for students, they can also be very useful for anybody looking to get organized. I was particularily intrigued by the link to mystickynotes.com which is a tool that will allow you to actually leave sticky notes on websites you visit! Isn’t that a bloggers dream tool? I’ll definitely write more on that tool after I test it out! If anybody does try it, please send me some feedback!

Lifehacker always gives some interesting tips to all of us. This time, Kyle posts how you can Unlock your car door with a tennis ball. This could be useful for developers since we know the code of the future is developed the night before! With lack of sleep and early meetings, we’re bound to forget or flush our keys!

Geektips explain How to Use Multiple Templates in Joomla. It’s actually quite easy, especially since there is no need to install any extra modules!

Angela Booth explains why you don’t need huge traffic to get results from your blog. Identify realistic goals for your blog and work on achieving those rather than focusing on traffic.

Hongkiat.com has a great tutorial which shows How to Design a Web 2.0 Tab with Photohop. Check that out if you are into web design.
