Opera Browser
by Staff Writer
I think Opera is taking over the world. Everywhere I go, I see an Opera Browser.
Web enabled mobile phones, PSP, Linux, Windows….everywhere. Not sure if its true but I was told that CSS renders the best on Opera. This is because one of the founders of CSS is also the Opera Founder. Hang on, I check….
hmm not sure, but it seems that the Opera Browser offered the first implementation of Cascading Style Sheets back in 1998. Thats seems to make sense. Anyway, I like the Browser…..its very clean and has a small footprint on my HD.

I like Opera too, but I don’t see it taking over the market anytime soon. Firefox is in a much better place, with a much better community, to do that.

I think part of Opera’s current success is that they have both a good product and an aggressive marketing team that is seeking out partnerships with other companies like Nintendo, Sony, etc. Although I’m a longtime user of Mozilla browsers, I did switch to Opera for a while. It’s much more lightweight and runs much better than Firefox or IE on less powerful platforms.
Firefox’s community is a great asset in taking the general web market and I don’t think Opera will be making strides in that area any time soon. They do seem to be laying a good foundation for a move on the mobile browser market, though.
